The religious education program at St. Aloysius is designed to accompany children from their earliest years of schooling through the completion of eighth grade, providing a steady foundation in the teachings of the Catholic Church. Through structured lessons in Scripture, sacramental preparation, and the traditions of the faith, young parishioners are invited to grow not only in knowledge but in their personal relationship with Christ. Classes are arranged by grade level so that instruction is age-appropriate, building upon what students have learned in previous years. The goal is to form young hearts and minds who understand their faith deeply and carry it with them into adolescence and beyond, ready to participate fully in the life of the parish community.
For adults seeking to enter the Catholic Church or complete their initiation into the faith, the OCIA process offers a welcoming path of study, prayer, and discernment. This journey of faith formation is available in both English and Spanish, reflecting the diverse community that gathers at St. Aloysius. Participants explore the core beliefs of Catholicism, the meaning of the sacraments, and the call to live a Christian life in the modern world. The process unfolds over time, allowing individuals to ask questions, reflect on Scripture, and build relationships with fellow seekers and sponsors. By the time of the Easter Vigil, those in the OCIA program are prepared to receive the sacraments and embrace their new life in the Church.
Beyond classroom instruction, religious education at St. Aloysius is rooted in the broader life of the parish. Families are encouraged to attend Mass together, participate in seasonal devotions, and serve those in need as a reflection of Christ's love. The sacramental preparation programs for First Communion and Confirmation are designed not as isolated events but as milestones within an ongoing journey of faith. Parents are recognized as the first teachers of their children in the ways of faith, and the parish supports them with resources, gatherings, and prayer. This integrated approach helps ensure that the lessons learned in religious education are lived out in the home, at worship, and in service to the wider community.
